A musical gathering around Qawwali music
Share
In this first iteration of Concrete Closed Sessions, we host one of our Alserkal team members, Inam, and his friends as they improvise Qawwali music. In celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, this Sufi Muslim musical performance serves as a post-Iftar communion.
The Concrete Closed Sessions provide a platform for local artists to ‘test drive’ new performance work with an intimate audience. Riffing off the tradition of musicians gathering informally to improvise and experiment, these sessions will spotlight works from multiple horizons—diverse styles of music, spoken word, dance, performance in all its guises. Like its host alserkal.online, the Concrete Closed Sessions constitute a space for creative ideas to be explored, expanded, and shared.
