Topologies is a work that captures surfaces and impressions of Alserkal Avenue using rubbings, scanning, drawing, photography and stop-motion animation. Over a series of three months, the artist will be based on the site of the future Alserkal residency, archive and study centre. The collected rubbings, together with images of Mein’s own small-scale interventions into the Avenue, will be compiled into an encyclopaedic series of books that document and preserve a way of seeing and constructing details of time and place.
