Book launch of Swallow This!, a book that opens to plain view confounding narratives about womanhood/
Following our group exhibition Swallow This! Arab Women and Body Politics with Lara Chahin and Reem Falaknaz back in March of last year, curated by Rama Ghanem, we’re excited to announce Swallow This!, a book that opens to plain view confounding narratives about womanhood, with new and exciting contributions from Ruba Al Sweel, @gulfgraphixx2, and @mauj.me.
Swallow This! reckons with how bodies are both constructed and destroyed by industry, and invites viewers to look at varied research on women’s experiences, internet spaces where women’s pain is exploited, and domestic and private domains where we seek and create refuge for one another. With works that are both contemplative and humorous, Swallow This! offers moments of both self-accountability and political rage in equal measure.
