Pair Three - Hawa Mahal and Dhrupad
Dhrupad explores the oral transmission of a musical tradition and uses the structure of the music to shape the film. Hawa Mahal treats the film as if it were a radio and seeks out sonic waves in fortuitous ways, without chronology or connections. Both films in this pair propose ways in which sound can lead the visual in cinema.
