My Mothers, The Siren, The Vessel, The Womb
By Hoda Tawakol
Part of New Exhibitions
My Mothers: The Siren, The Vessel, The Womb, Hoda Tawakol’s third solo exhibition at the gallery, exploring the lives and lasting influence of three maternal figures in the artist’s life.
Through a three-channel video installation, Fragments of Return, cutouts, photomontages, and sculptural works like suspended Lure and the three Nude, Tawakol weaves together themes of memory, femininity, and the complexities of motherhood. Using archival footage, family photographs, and intricate materials, the works delve into the tension between tenderness and control, nurturing and resistance.
With a deeply personal lens, Tawakol reclaims the female body as a site of transformation, resilience, and creation.
