Over a span of three days, Decolonizing Architecture Art Research (DAAR) - Sandi Hilal and Alessandro Petti, hosts a series of reflective morning gatherings. These sessions invite an open dialogue on the macabre impacts of the ongoing aggression on Palestine and the muzzling of dissent voices in Western institutions and organisations.

Offering a welcoming space over cups of warm coffee, DAAR encourages a diverse assembly to contemplate and confront the normalisation of permanent conflict, fostering the creation of new intercontinental alliances among various struggles against the backdrop of global injustice.

Founded in 2007 by Sandi Hilal and Alessandro Petti, Decolonizing Architecture Art Research (DAAR) melds architecture, art, pedagogy, and politics, advocating for justice and equality, particularly in Palestine and Europe. In acknowledgement of their decolonial architectural and educational approach and praxis, DAAR earned the Golden Lion for Best Participation at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia 2023.

In When Solidarity Is Not a Metaphor, DAAR’s activity, “Join for Coffee: We Need to Talk,” invites open dialogue, echoing the exhibition’s ethos of fostering understanding and resistance against global injustices, particularly the ongoing macabre assault against Palestine, through compassionate, collective acts of with-ness, mirroring the exhibition’s commitment to challenging dominant narratives.
