(Un)common Threads by Design East

To mark the city’s status as a design hub for the East, DesignEast will launch its first exhibition at Alserkal Art Week in March 2023.

Featuring collectible works from craft to digital, it will expose work from exciting new talents that embody the values and foresight of a new generation of creators.

Blurring boundaries and challenging the traditional design establishment, the work chosen and exhibited will represent the contemporary cultural outlook from China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka with a focus on the broader Middle East region through the hands and eyes of the makers.

Estimated number of works: 30+

The exhibition will look to reroute itself to Saudi, Doha, India and the UK with an accompanying programme to support education and collaboration.
