Lawrie Shabibi is pleased to announce No Scheherazade by Farhad Ahrarnia, his fourth solo exhibition at the gallery. Comprising works in Ahrarnia’s signature techniques of embroidered photography and wood inlay against an immersive backdrop inspired by Prince’s 1987 video 'Sign O’ The Times', No Scheherazade is a dissection/celebration of Princess Diana, Keith Haring and all things 80’s.
Throughout the reception, a specially curated soundscape by namyrr and Brian Ellis will set the tone—blending chopped and looped 80s tracks, ambient drones derived from Iranian tunes, and warped, resampled snippets of Princess Diana’s interviews echo the exhibition’s homage to the 80s, Princess Diana, and Keith Haring.
Ahead of the opening reception, a conversation between the artist and gallery director William Lawrie will take place at 3 PM.
