Calligraformism is the latest evolution in Wissam Shawkat’s journey, representing a new chapter in the world of Calligraphy-within-abstract-art_ Originally coined by Shawkat in 2016, Calligraforms marked the birth of this concept, which now extends into this exhibition_ Dedicated entirely to Calligraforms, the exhibition introduces new approaches while continuing to explore shape, formation, and the concept of the “invisible,” setting his work apart from traditional calligraphy_ His art features dynamic abstraction, characterised by movement and vitality expressed through lines, shapes, and colours_

A key element of Shawkat’s latest exhibition is his exploration of the “psyche of the letter,” where he delves into the notion that each letter possesses a heart, a shadow, and even emotions_ This collection is a profound exploration of what each letter wants, loves, and cherishes, and how it harmonises with other forms_ This deep investigation into the essence of the letter is a distinctive feature of Shawkat’s latest work, inviting viewers to experience his innovative approach first-hand_

Deeply rooted in the philosophical ideas he originally brought from Basra, Wissam Shawkat continues to blend influences from the Arab world with aspirations toward European standards_ Within Dubai’s diverse and sophisticated community, his work offers a contemplative space, inviting introspection and the exploration of hidden meanings in a world increasingly focused on the future_
