Athar Ether: Open Studio

Pass through and meet artist Rashed Qurwash in his studio at Alserkal Arts Foundation presenting his photographic interventions in process.
Drawing on individual and collective fragmented histories, the work places projected images drawn from found footage in relation to one another and to the room they occupy. The artist’s memory of encountering an image is revisited repeatedly, creating a labyrinth of images and their returns.
Two projectors face a translucent screen from opposite sides. Their images pass through and bleed into one another, at times competing, completing, or compositing a larger image. They meet on a surface that holds neither image completely.
