About the Role

The role of Spatial Designer is for a young design professional who will be responsible for enhancing the interior and exterior experiences within Alserkal Avenue, including offices, public realm, visitor experience, staff accommodation, commercial spaces, and more.

His/her goal would be to create spaces that are not only functional and comfortable, but in keeping with the Alserkal brand ethos and values, while working to respond to briefs from different business units and in keeping with relevant limitations like time and budget.

The ability to work independently is essential, but the ideal candidate will have the ability and agility to work with multiple teams.

Overtime work will be expected during times of intense workload and during special projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Space Planning: Create design layouts that optimize the use of space, ensuring functionality, flow, aesthetics and any other business needs that have been specified.

• Design Concept Development: Develop mood boards, sketches, 3D renderings, and colour schemes to present design ideas to relevant stakeholders for review and feedback.

• Material and Product Selection: Support or lead in the research and selection of furniture, fabrics, flooring, wall finishes, lighting, and accessories that fit the design concept.

• Budget Management: Prepare and manage design project budgets, ensuring that expenses stay within limits.

• Consultation: Meet with senior management and other relevant internal clients to understand and translate their vision, requirements, and budget for various interior design projects.

• Vendor and Contractor Coordination: Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors to ensure timely delivery and installation of materials and furnishings.

• Project Management: Oversee the implementation of design plans, ensuring that timelines are met, and quality standards are maintained. Maintaining accountability of Project timelines is a key responsibility.

• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project records, including contracts, design plans, invoices, and change orders.

• Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that designs meet local regulations, safety standards, and accessibility requirements.

Skills Required

• Experience: Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in interior design, with a portfolio showcasing a variety of projects relating to office spaces, public realm, co-living spaces and similar.

• Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite).

• Strong sense of aesthetics, color theory, and design principles.

• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and budgets efficiently.

• Excellent verbal and written communication for interactions, presentations, and team collaboration.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure that all aspects of the design are completed to a high standard.

• Problem-Solving: Capable of overcoming design challenges and finding solutions to space limitations.

Experience & Education

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience working for an interior design firm. Past experience with projects relating to revamping and designing office spaces, public realm projects, and co-living spaces / Accommodation.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, project-based position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, from 10am to 6pm.

Weekend work and overtime might be required during intense periods and/or during special projects.
