Join UAE based artist Rabila in a meditative drawing exercise that employs ink to create spontaneous figurative drawings. As we move through the workshop, the scale of the paper keeps increasing and the works take more and more of a minimal direction.

Rabila has a tight and minimalist drawing practice. She addresses issues of space, family, belonging, class and urbanism. With a simple set of colorless lines, she is able to evoke the teeming familiarity of cramped living situations, all the while interrogating the view of “the one who draws.” Her visceral involvement with the scenes she depicts is clear, and yet her stance holds an oddly compelling kind of ethnographic distance.

Rabila has exhibited her print and drawing works in Sikka Art Fair, Focal Point Art Book Fair and Made in Tashkeel. She works as part of the design team at Alserkal Avenue.
