Opening 17 January, Aïda Muluneh’s solo exhibition This Bloom I Borrow marks a radical departure within the artist’s practice. Developed during her residency with Efie Gallery in Dubai, this new body of work unveils hand painted acrylic and silk screen printed photographic works, extending her iconic interventions on the human body directly onto canvas. The result is a luminous and tactile exploration of form, gesture, and surface, where photography and painting converge.

Reflecting on the series, Muluneh notes: “These works reflect on the dualities that shape existence and explore the dialogue between the visible and the hidden, between personal history and collective memory, power and vulnerability, faith and transformation. A meditation on the impermanence of beauty and the resilience of spirit, each piece becomes an excavation of memory and emotion, questioning how culture, belief, and gender define and often confine the self.”

This Bloom I Borrow invites viewers into a charged visual language that is both intimate and monumental, unfolding as a meditation on becoming, endurance, and transformation.
