The Warak Workshop with Haya's Kitchen

Part of What the Food

2.30PM | Join Haya Bishouty's vine leaf (Warak) rolling workshop.

Welcome to warak rolling with Haya’s Kitchen! Vine leaves – aka warak in Arabic – are at the heart of Palestinian homes, culture and food. Growing up, warak rolling was a communal effort that brought Haya, her mama and tetas together. During their sessions, they would catch up on life, chat about the latest gossip and share a memory together.

In true Haya’s Kitchen fashion and in celebration of this tradition, you’re invited to join the next warak rolling workshop at What The Food Festival. During the session, you'll get to learn the skill of warak rolling, meet new people, listen to Haya's tales and traditions, and work together as a community to roll warak for the next gathering. Once you're done filling the pots, you'll have the chance to sit down and enjoy some of Haya's homemade Koosa and Warak (Zucchini and Vine Leaves) to end the session.

Please note that the workshop and lunch include beef and lamb and there are no vegetarian alternatives available.

About Haya's Kitchen:

Created by Haya Bishouty, Haya's Kitchen is an experience-based concept that's a tribute to Palestine, Tetas and Traditions. Haya runs sufra dinners to bring people together around a communal table, workshops to preserve the ancestral traditions and skills, and pop ups to spread the love for street food.
