The Unseen Presence
Curated by Lina Mikati and Celine Azem
Firetti Contemporary
Memories embed themselves in landscapes, histories leave their mark on bodies, and the weight of loss is carried across generations. The Unseen Presence considers these invisible imprints—traces of the past that linger, fractures that refuse to fade, and the resilience needed to rebuild.
Drawing from Nizar Qabbani’s poem, Balqis, where longing and displacement exist in tension, the exhibition explores the paradox of memory. Some works reconstruct fragments of a vanished past, while others question nostalgia’s fragility. Through diverse perspectives, the artists navigate shifting identities, migration, and endurance—revealing not just what has been lost, but what persists.
The exhibition features the works of Mahmood Al Daoud, Bassam Kyrillos, Besher Koushaji, Hikmat Naeem, Suheil Baddor, Ibrahim Hamid, Ahmed Tallaa, Eyad Jouda, and Kamal Al Zoubi.
