The importance of staying quiet: 2. Lala Rukh II
Part of Alserkal Art Week: UPROOTED
The importance of staying quiet is a year-long dialogic exchange between Saira Ansari and Umer Butt. Through research, readings, and exhibition-making, the programme aims to present a distinct perspective on abstraction from Pakistan.
The second presentation as part of The importance of staying quiet is titled:
2. Lala Rukh II
This iteration expands on Lala Rukh’s works made from the late 1970s onwards, drawing from her enduring engagement with the medium of photography. It explores how her practice moves toward greater abstraction, persisting in its examination of surface and its evolving relationship to minimal mark making.
