Get ready to rediscover your favourite classics on the big screen and fall in love with some hidden gems. This summer at Cinema Akil, we are continuing our Summer of Classics with 17 titles from all over the world, celebrating the art of cinema and giving audiences the opportunity to watch some classics on the big screen.

This summer's titles include multiple anniversaries for some great world classics, starting with the Claude Sautet Centenary, marked by the screening of The Things of Life (Les choses de la vie) starring Michel Piccoli and Romy Schneider. Additionally, we are celebrating the 65th anniversary of Alain Resnais' Hiroshima, Mon Amour.

We are screening a number of films that have made cinema history: the great single-location courtroom drama 12 Angry Men by Sidney Lumet, the Brazilian urban saga City of God by Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund, the historical epic representing the Libyan resistance leader Omar Mukhtar: Lion of the Desert by Moustapha Akkad, the often forgotten noir film by Costa-Gavras, The Sleeping Car Murders, Bernardo Bertolucci's Oscar-winning dramatization of China's eleventh and final monarch of the Qing Dynasty, The Last Emperor, Park Chan-wook's great action-thriller Oldboy, and finally the sensitive, heart-wrenching drama Goodbye, Children (Au revoir les enfants) by Louis Malle.
