Aligned with ‘alternative ways of being’ and mindfulness, Slow Art Walks invite visitors to take the time to slow down and reflect, not to rush, but to take time to unpack and understand.

About Richi Bhatia

Over the last decade Richi’s practice has transitioned into the non-taxonomical ways of looking at human – animal interactions. As a performance artist she excavates and probes deeper into the encounters at the collision of mind – body and its spectators. She is interested in the slow acts of transformation that unpack her practice through processes; through modes and methods that began with her skin anomaly - of resurrecting the body from an illness thereby negating the metaphors associated with it.

Richi Bhatia recently concluded a curatorial project Suno; showcasing twenty two artists from South Asia and its diaspora at 1X1 Art Gallery, Dubai; 2024; She’s part of Separations Geography, and its editorial team; an ongoing project by Daak Vaak (India) and Mandarjazail Collective (Pakistan); Bhatia was a guest artist in residence at Alserkal Arts Foundation, 2023; she was part of Rewilding The Kitchen, 2023 curated by Nahla Tabba, Alserkal Arts Foundation, Dubai; She was autumn guest artist in residence at Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation, Leh (2022), Bhatia was one of the Visiting Artist Fellows for Laxmi Mittal and family South Asia Institute, Harvard University (2020).
Apart from her art practice Bhatia has worked with The Guild for the retrospective of the artist Sudhir Patwardhan, Walking through the Soul City, curated by Nancy Adajania; she has worked as a Research Associate at the Bodhana Arts and Research Foundation for the retrospective of the artist Prabhakar Barwe, Inside the Empty Box, curated by Jesal Thacker at National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai. (2018 – 19).
Richi currently works with 1X1 Art Gallery as a Writing and Curatorial Collegiate and navigates her time between India and the UAE.
