Part of Alserkal Art Week: UPROOTED
Moments of Hope continues Besher Koushaji’s exploration of the human condition, following his earlier exhibitions Reflections and Contemplations. Together, they form a meditation on fragility, endurance, and renewal. Born from histories of displacement, conflict, and uncertainty, these works turn toward the quiet persistence of hope, a force that endures even in darkness.
Through layered compositions where past, present, and future intertwine, Koushaji reveals moments when light breaks through ambiguity. Flowers and fruits, lemons, pomegranates, anemones, serve as symbols of resilience and memory, echoing the rituals of the Damascene home. At the heart of this imagery stands the woman: a figure of strength, preservation, and continuity. Moments of Hope invites viewers into a contemplative space where memory and emotion converge, revealing hope as both an intimate and collective act of survival.
