Making Waves - Navigators of Hong Kong Cinema, the globe-trotting film programme celebrating Hong Kong cinematic arts by showcasing an 8-film program at Cinema Akil and a photo film exhibition at Seeing Things Studio in collaboration with Gulf Photo Plus from 9th to 14th December, 2022.

Dubai will be the 15th stop for the film festival after it has traveled to 14 cities worldwide and will feature the best of Hong Kong cinema in the presence of their filmmakers who will introduce the films and engage with the audience after their respective screenings.

The program will also showcase a Photo Film exhibition of works by four Hong Kong unit photographers at the Seeing Things Studio in collaboration with Gulf Photo Plus. A six-day extravaganza with Chiu Sin-hang's One Second Champion, one of the programme's three directorial debuts, the others being Coba Cheng's Chilli Laugh Story and Ricky Ko's Time. It will also treat local audiences to two light comedies – Sunny Chan's Table for Six and Kearen Pang's Mama's Affair – and Longman Leung's Anita, a biopic on the late Cantopop legend Anita Mui. Completing the programme are two newly restored classics, Days of Being Wild by Wong Kar Wai and Infernal Affairs by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak.

This Project managed by the Hong Kong International Film Festival is presented by Create Hong Kong and supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR. The programme was successfully launched in Italy's Udine in April. It has since traveled to Bali, London, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Copenhagen, Sydney, Singapore, Seoul, Stockholm, Honolulu, Tokyo, and Prague, making Dubai the final stop for this international festival.
