Half-life
with Sophie Cundale
Alserkal Arts Foundation
Artist and filmmaker Sophie Cundale presents her work in progress ‘Half-life’, a new film script developed while in residence at Alserkal Arts Foundation. The script revolves around a nuclear power-plant heiress who develops an erotic infatuation with radioactive waste. The work looks at consumption, abjection and desire through the romance between the heiress and the radioactive waste, and her medical condition, PICA, which causes her to ingest the inedible. Sophie will show previous work alongside a reading from her new script, presenting its themes, influences and surrounding research.
This event will be of particular interest to artists and writers in Dubai who may have work in progress, developing narrative fiction or science fiction. There will be a further opportunity to present their own ideas in a group setting during the remaining 6 weeks of the residency programme.
No pre-registration is required.
