Sun + Water + Time - Organic Photography with Cyanotypes
Gulf Photo Plus in collaboration with Ame Artistic Studio
Part of More Than Human
Participants will leave the workshop with a grounded appreciation of what photography is, as well as your very own A4-sized artwork.
In this workshop, we’ll be revisiting one of the oldest printing processes in the history of photography: the cyanotype, pioneered by Anna Atkins in the mid 19th century.
In today’s hyper-visual world, photographs are often fleeting and flippant. With this alternative process, we’ll gain a keen understanding of the organic elements that were once the cornerstone of all visual creations in the pre-digital world. Reflecting on what humanity leaves behind, compose images using found flowers and petals, expose the chemical-infused paper using UV rays from the sun, curing and fixing artworks with distilled water.
Participants will leave the workshop with a grounded appreciation of what photography is, as well as your very own A4-sized artwork.
