In Contours of Belonging , we bring together the work of three female artists whose backgrounds, experiences, and practices converge in a shared exploration of cultural heritage, personal memory, and emotional landscapes. Each artist employs her medium not merely as a tool but as a vessel, transporting deeply rooted narratives into contemporary visual language.
Negin Fallah examines the intersection of tradition and transformation, where echoes of Iranian illuminated manuscripts and miniatures collide with contemporary narratives of human psychology, mythology, and naturalistic philosophy. Her multidisciplinary work unveils an enduring dance between chaos and harmony, reflecting a nuanced approach to understanding identity through Iranian art forms that have traversed borders and epochs.
Mai Alremeithi’s minimalist compositions channel the architectural metamorphosis of the UAE, echoing the nation's balance of heritage and modernity. Through layered paper, clay, and plaster, Mai invites viewers into a contemplative space defined by structure and void, form and formlessness. Her works are meditative, infused with a quiet strength, capturing the essence of place while honoring the tactile and the tangible.
Annie Kurkdjian confronts trauma and survival with a raw, visceral energy drawn from her experience in Lebanon. Her portraits, often grotesque and haunting, provide a window into the human psyche scarred by war and displacement. These figures, sculpted from shadow and anguish, embody resilience and invite viewers to confront the human cost of conflict, holding a mirror to our collective vulnerabilities and, perhaps, our shared capacity for empathy.
Together, these artists construct a tapestry of resilience, strength, and introspection. Through diverse forms and media, Resonance of Forms becomes a dialogue on identity, memory, and the power of art to bridge cultural histories and shared human emotions. In this exhibition, we witness how each artist carves her distinct narrative while resonating within a universal story—a story of survival, self-discovery, and the enduring human spirit.
