Leading experimental artist, and pioneer of video art in India, Nalini Malani in conversation with Nada Raza, Alserkal Arts Foundation Director and curator of Can You Hear Me?.

Can art change the world? Perhaps not, but it can certainly force us to stop, reconsider, and change our ways. Nalini Malani’s extraordinary artistic career and unique approach to image-making has led to countless international exhibitions and many international awards and accolades. Always experimental and pushing the boundaries of painting, drawing, moving-image and even sound, her digitally hand-drawn animations are conjured up and vanish, powerful apparitions that imprint themselves on our memories. Her committed stance towards social justice and against violence feel ever more poignant and relevant as our world reckons with new horrors. Join us for a conversation that will range from subverting fairy tales and mythology, witnessing history, making work on an iPad during Covid, and an inspiring ability to speak truth to power through a rich life of making art. Don’t miss this very special opportunity to meet and hear from the artist herself.
