An essential central function within the organisation, Information Technology is the backbone of Alserkal and its initiatives. We rely on our IT systems to help us be more efficient, creative and innovative. Working closely with the Operations Director, the IT Manager will be responsible for the business’s technology infrastructure, systems security and overall technical operations. We’re looking for an experienced manager who can join us on this journey, using the knowledge and skills they’ve acquired to make us more efficient. In this role, you will audit and analyse our current systems and assets, recommend and implement solutions and upgrades, and provide training to the team to keep troubleshooting to a minimum.

The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of network and server maintenance, experience implementing ERP and finance solutions, and advanced industry knowledge to keep us on the cutting edge. you’ll have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of our IT operations, and an ongoing impact on our overall growth.

The successful applicant will be a strong project manager, with a problem-solving approach and a keen understanding of business process and efficiency. The role requires the ability to take charge and exercise independent judgement, and the confidence to prioritise and complete tasks on time.

Overtime work will be expected during times of intense workload and during special projects.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day Management
From setting and managing budgets to overseeing business-critical systems and ensuring IT and AV support for the team, as well as Foundation, community and commercial events, the IT Manager’s daily tasks span a wide spectrum.

•Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware

•Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative

•Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems administration

•Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software

•Set up annual budgets in concert with the Operations Director and track them on a monthly basis to ensure that the department is on budget for the year.

•Prepare cost benefits analysis reports when upgrades are necessary, continuously analyzing vendors to ensure they offer the best possible service and value for company’s needs.

•Oversee costing of IT/AV support for all community and commercial events, as per the tech brief provided by the events team, while trying to maximise efficiency and value.

•Ensure resources are available for all owned and commercial events and that extra manpower is allocated when required.

•Put in place a briefing process and work closely with the relevant internal teams to evaluate the process and ensure that tech briefs are efficient and effective.

The IT Manager will be responsible for managing the security of all IT systems that are in place across the business, from networks and servers to email accounts and hardware.

•Ensure the organisation’s IT policy is kept up to date with the times and that the team is trained to ensure that breaches do not occur.

•Develop and execute disaster procedures, and maintain data backups.

•Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems administration.

•Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software.

•Manage all server and network security for on-site and cloud servers.

•Oversee the access rights to documents and files, folders and digital assets across the business, maintaining centralised password logs and routine password changes.

The IT Manager will be responsible for managing the maintenance of all IT systems that are in place across the business, as well as the development of any new IT systems, from the very beginning of the project cycle through to delivery.

•Prepare workflows and systems maps for all IT systems across the business.

•Conduct periodic updates and check-ins with relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of all systems and that business’ needs are met

•Ensure resource availability, and oversee the coordination of people / processes to ensure that the projects are delivered on time and meet the agreed brief.

•Evaluate and retain contractors for annual maintenance contracts for business essential services such as Sage, Salesforce, Zoho, etc.

•Analyse department needs, identify vulnerabilities, and boost productivity, efficiency and accuracy to inform business decisions

•Ensure network components meet needs and work together seamlessly, using the full range of capabilities, and stay informed about new features and competitive solutions

•Continuously analyse current process, technologies, and vendors to identify areas of improvement

Hardware & Software

•Track and maintain hardware and software inventory.

•Negotiate annual maintenance contracts ensuring the best value for money for the organisation and its assets.

•Oversee the relationship with all technology (hardware and software) vendors, ensuring the best payment terms and rates.

•Ensure all hardware is serviced/maintained as per the planned preventive maintenance schedule and forecast any necessary upgrades or replacements as part of the budget management process.

•Oversee the purchase and installation of any new hardware or software and ensure that the necessary training is given to all relevant team members.

•Ensure that user manuals are in place for all systems – hardware and software.

•Management and maintenance of all Audio Visual systems of the company, as well as responsible for operating rented equipment for events and special projects.

Skills Required

•Computer literacy for Mac OS and MS Office systems, including the respective word processing and spreadsheet programmes.

•Outstanding verbal and written communications skills; the ability to communicate with people at all levels and execute effective business correspondence.

•Excellent analytical and organisational skills, including development of workflows and a keen understanding of business efficiency.

•Ability to manage teams and multiple stakeholders with disparate (sometimes conflicting) needs.

•Results-oriented with attention to detail and a client-servicing approach to all of Alserkal Avenue's internal and external stakeholders.

•Passion for arts and culture and Alserkal Avenue projects.

•Ability to read and comprehend technical documents and operations manuals.

•Exceptional time management skills that allow the candidate to attend to a broader range of activities, and get more done in less time than others.

Knowledge & Education

Bachelor’s degree in technology or computer science

10+ years’ experience in IT management

Experience with/knowledge of programming languages and Mac OS, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring

Expertise with implementing, configuring, and testing solutions.

Experience with SAGE and Salesforce is preferred.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Sunday through Thursday, from 10am to 6pm. Saturdays and overtime might be required during intense periods and/or during special projects. This is specifically relevant when system updates need to take place outside of regular working hours to ensure minimum disruption to user.
