Pair One - Jalsaghar and The Other Song

Together, these films offer a lament, one seems to take off where the other leaves. There is the loss of a tradition, of a way of life, of a changing context. Rather than foreground nostalgia, the pairing proposes questions around the axes of technology, modernity, colonialism and feudalism. Both films also suggest ways of listening closely to the multiple histories of the circulation of music.
